Kano Judo
PATRON:
Park Lodge students follow a grading syllabus that is Kano/Kodokan orientated. It includes throws, holds and groundwork. Kata is important to the progression on judo technique, and is practised as part of grading. Also, jujitsu is introduced at Blue Belt, to remind us where judo came from.
Concentration is on learning technique rather than relying on strength. In airwork students practice their throwing techniques with Randori - 'judo on the move'. Some students wish to enter competitions, whilst others prefer to learn the art of judo but will never want to fight with aggression. This is the same with groundwork, where entering competitions is encouraged but not a requirement.
By focussing on good technique we ensure the club is suitable for those who wish to learn a martial art for exercise, personal satisfaction, or just for pleasure, as well as those who would like to compete. If you would like to find out more please contact us, or come along to one of the clubs to see what we do.
